Citizen Kane

                                                 Analysis

1.       In the opening scene of the movie Citizen Kane we can see what looks like a rundown log cabin with Charles Foster Kane playing in the snow outside while his parents are talking over the negotiations of the adoption. In this scene there are several effects which the director played with to give a better understanding on the situation. Kane began in a home with a drunk as a father and a mother who didn’t want him and hence was put up for adoption. This is where his step father comes into the picture, being a wealthy man this is what sets up Kane on his journey to find love, comfort, and control. Money being all that Kane knows this is the key step in his life that shows why he unrolled the way he did.

2.       In the scene where Kane and his wife are eating breakfast the director uses a style known as “dissolve” which is basically a slide show on a recurring event such as the many breakfasts enjoyed by Kane and his wife over the years. In the scene we are shown how the relationship between Kane and his wife is a bland and repetitive one with a continuous back and forth feel.

3.       The revelation of what Kane really meant by Rosebud was one which I hadn’t expected but fit very well. Rosebud was simply the only possession he really owned, being given to him as a child it’s really the only object which holds any moral value to him. This revelation made me feel somewhat sympathetic for Kane it goes to show how money really could not buy happiness.

4.       There is only one hint I noticed that  revealed the identity of Rosebud, after   being shown what Rosebud actually was  and it was the scene where his second wife walks out on him, and after trashing her room he drops the “snow” globe on the  floor as he says Rosebud.

5.The ending of the film was satisfying; it was really the only way to wrap up everything nicely and cohesively. The only possible change I would make is to have of elaborated slightly on Rosebud, explaining maybe why it was important to him or even if Rosebud was actually was a reference to the slay. I felt as if that area remained rather vague.

6.       The idea of taking a person’s life and  playing it out in a movie is something that has been done many times throughout the world of cinema but the way it came out in this movie was like nothing id seen before. The way the movie was shot gave the viewers a much better depth into how everything was unfolding and gave a better grasp on what Kane was feeling. All in all the movie is one I would recommend.

    7.       In the movie many cinematic effects where given thanks to excellent camera play by the director. Many of these elements are said to have of inspired countless other directors. The  effects developed in this movie went on to be   the fundamentals to most special effects some being: flashbacks, time skips, the usage of mirrors, and roofs to add more depth the overall feel   of the movie and many other effects. These effects are what made the movie so good, with them we were able to have a better understanding on the scene that was playing. One for example being when the director wanted to show how powerful Kane was and metaphorically big he was the director dug a hole in the floor to have the ability to look up at Kane giving him a grandiose stature.

Destino Analysis

 DESTINO

By: Walt Disney and Salvador Dali

Analysis:

1. A) What is the unresolved issue of this film, whose outcome is in doubt?
B) What is, or are, the conflicts faced by the main character?
-Answer: Do the couple depicted in the story ever manage to get together. The outcome of both characters is unresolved.
-The main conflict in this story I believe is the fact that the two people don’t really know what they want both character are depicted as being in love with one another but that something always prevents it. That something is themselves, if you truly want something the only thing that can stop you is yourself and this is what the whole conflict is revolved around.

The moment the two Turtles meet.
2. Explain. Is the clip Man Vs. Self if so explain if not explain.
It is as both characters where in love with each other but unable to reach each other not physically but emotionally and mentally this was due to their indecisive nature and inability to make up their minds.
2. How does the tension rise in the movie?
a) I only felt a rise in tensions at the moment the music escalated
3. Can you spot a comic relief?
b) The scene with the people riding bikes with the bread on their heads.
4. The films climax occurs when the basic conflict is actually resolved. In what moment does the basic conflict find a resolution in this movie?
c) I felt as if it was when the two turtles met with the moon between them. Expressing something on the lines of how the man will never reach the woman the same way one would never reach the moon.
The blended image of the door
5. This is generally followed by the “denouement”. Does this movie have a denouement? If so, what is it?
d) Throughout the clip we are shown how neither of the two is able to meet and in the end they never meet. The denouement occurs when the guy sees the woman through the blended image of the door and upon crossing finds nothing on the other side.

What a Movie AVATAR

When it comes to choosing my favorite movie the choice is quick and swift AVATAR. For me this movie was simply awe inspiring and left me baffled. From the opening seen of the movie Jake Sully was giving a narrated intro into the movie I was rooted in my seat. The whole concept behind the link between two minds and being able to have an access between the two and being aliens was one which I had never thought or came close to anything I had ever thought of. While I was in the theater I myself had such an immersing effect, I felt as if I was in this world called Pandora. The feeling of experiencing something entirely new and it being something totally plausible just gripped me and didn’t let go I felt just a part of that world.  The way they depicted the spiritual connection the planet and that that was their god made me think of how spiritually unconnected we are from our planet. The way we treat it is despicable compared to those in this movie. All in all this movie made me think of the diversity that could be out there in space and left me even a bit empty inside when I stepped out from the theater. I would definitely watch the movie again and again. I myself have seen it roughly six times and each time experiencing something new. From sadness due to how the Na’Vi  were treated or joy for how they overcame the Corporal to the more complex emotions of feeling small in this world and the feeling of disconnection.
The work on this movie was just as inspiring as the movie itself. The movie itself broke several Box Office records during its initial theatrical run. It grossed $749.7 million in the United States and Canada and more than $2.74 billion worldwide. The movie was predominantly made off of CGI technology, which is very hard to work which just left me even more impressed to how it came out. If there was a movie I could possibly play a role in it would have to be AVATAR. Most of the actions performed by the characters where real and was the CGI recording all the actions and animating it. Also I would have loved to have the privilege of working with James Cameron.

Challange an Idea

For some time now zombie discussions have always crossed a conversation and plans have been laid out. Everyone has always claimed to have planned the perfect scenario and that there is no chance they would die that they would be the ones at the end the survivors. I won’t criticize this as I have myself devised a hell of a plan and if the world was to be overrun by merciless undead I would definitely be one of the last to go. This is how these discussions come about as one person starts to discuss about how he will be the sole survivor he is challenged by another’s “perfect plan”. The truth of the fact is that more or less everyone who has ever devised a plan will likely be of the first to go. I’ll explain, if you devised a plan to counter what you believe would be the zombie apocalypse you would start out with a handicap. As all zombie apocalypse’s have been straight from  fiction novels if the real thing would begin all you learned would most likely be wrong and maybe your first instinct is that they are slow with slower reaction rates you devise plans around this idea when they could be very fast with slow reaction rates. In the end to survive one must start from the start analyzing the situation and creating a plan on the spot one that has been adapted to the situation their in.
